This Master's program immerses students in exploring the Christian Church's historical development, theological foundations, and the evolving impact of theological and historiographical movements. The curriculum balances historical analysis, theological inquiry, intellectual history, and historiography, equipping students with advanced critical tools to examine shifting ideologies, practices, and scholarly traditions. Its unique focus extends beyond Christian history to investigate how changing historical interpretations have shaped theological thought. The program is offered through an international partnership with Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
Our faculty consists of distinguished Church Historians with varied specializations, whose influential publications lead internationally recognized academic journals and book series. The University boasts an exceptional library featuring rare collections, including ancient papyri, more than 1,000 early printed books, seminal Reformation works, and one of the world's most comprehensive Bible collections. Stellenbosch University, Africa's joint-oldest higher education institution and a top-ranked center for theological studies, contributes significantly to this program.
