As Scotland's premier music research institution, we foster a collaborative environment of academics and professionals. Studying in Glasgow - the UK's inaugural UNESCO City of Music - offers access to a dynamic musical landscape. The city boasts numerous festivals like Sonica, Counterflows, and Tectonics, alongside community-driven initiatives such as the Lights Out Listening Group, plus diverse venues for experimental audio work including The Old Hairdressers, Tramway, Mono, SWG3, and City Halls, all of which have featured our students' projects. Resident organizations like the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RSNO, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ensemble, and avant-garde groups like the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra create a stimulating learning environment.
The skills acquired will appeal to creative sector employers, especially in modern music production, audio engineering, gaming, performing arts, and media. Numerous alumni have established thriving careers as independent artists and audio specialists. The program also provides strong preparation for doctoral research and academic pursuits.
