Our research teams engage in diverse projects spanning classic disciplines like synthesis, catalysis, and spectroscopy. These investigations drive breakthroughs in novel molecular magnets, plasmonic materials, battery innovations, medical imaging compounds, and 3D printing applications.
We foster an exceptionally vibrant research atmosphere. Our community typically includes around 40 faculty members, 120 postgraduate researchers, and 40 research assistants and fellows, all maintaining strong partnerships with both UK and global industries. We oversee numerous RCUK and industry-sponsored research initiatives along with multiple research fellowships. As part of ScotCHEM, we collaborate with six other Scottish universities in this consortium dedicated to outstanding postgraduate training and researcher development. Through ScotCHEM's framework, we participate in West CHEM, an innovative research network connecting the chemistry departments at Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities.
Our Graduate School strives to create an internationally renowned setting that stimulates intellectual growth, empowers students to impact culture, society, and commerce, and cultivates future global leaders. We nurture a multicultural cohort exceeding 750 students representing over 50 nations, all pioneering work across cutting-edge disciplines and interdisciplinary domains. A key focus involves fostering connections among our students and ensuring they feel valued members of the University's scholarly community.
