This Master's program concentrates on the period from the late 15th to 18th centuries, offering students the chance to investigate social, political, religious, and cultural historical topics across broad geographic and temporal spans. The university boasts extensive library, museum, and archival resources for this era, with faculty specializing in Early Modern Scotland, England, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The curriculum includes a core Research, Resources, and Skills course shared with other History students, plus five elective courses.
Glasgow serves as an exceptional center for Early Modern History studies. The university library houses remarkable printed and manuscript collections spanning from medieval times to the present, including the Baillie Collection of Scottish, Irish, and English historical sources. The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery offers access to primary materials in fine art, numismatics, and ethnography.
