Research in Translation Studies is growing quickly. We support a vibrant postgraduate community with specialized networks, providing an engaging seminar series, comprehensive library access, diverse expertise, and options for cross-disciplinary guidance.
Within the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, Translation Studies covers a broad spectrum, with scholars and students exploring areas from literature to audiovisual translation in numerous languages. These include: Catalan, Czech, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Given its interdisciplinary nature, Glasgow's program incorporates insights from various academic disciplines. Prospective students should review faculty research profiles across the School and University. Joint supervision enables mentorship in both Translation Studies and related fields such as creative writing, graphic novels, medieval/renaissance studies, music, law, or medicine. Our faculty lead internationally recognized research and collaborate extensively within the College of Arts (English Literature, History, Philosophy, Theology).
The College of Arts Graduate School fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting for research students, offering training, resources, and skill-building opportunities. The College nurtures a dynamic, diverse student body across taught and research programs, supported by an intellectually rich environment. Every department contributes to groundbreaking, influential research.
