Social and public policy examines approaches to tackling worldwide and community issues like poverty, inequality, housing, healthcare, technology, and environmental sustainability. This program integrates concepts from political science, sociology, and economics to analyze how governments develop strategies to meet citizens' requirements, social welfare, and quality of life.
The Social & Public Policy Teaching Team received the distinguished Social Policy Association/Policy Press Outstanding Teaching Award 2020, acknowledging the University of Glasgow's exceptional and creative social policy education in the UK (SPA 2020). Glasgow's Social Policy program tied for first place in UK student satisfaction according to the NSS 2019. Students gain practical experience through placements with nonprofit or government organizations.
This program develops critical analysis, communication, and collaborative abilities that are highly valued by employers. Graduates establish careers as administrators, specialists, and policy experts across private, nonprofit, and government sectors, both domestically and abroad. They work in various areas such as urban development, healthcare, social work, activism, education, media, and business.
