Our English Literature program offers comprehensive exploration of literary studies, drawing on our distinguished faculty's expertise across diverse fields such as American literature, Irish studies, postcolonial works, critical theory, creative writing, and interdisciplinary connections with arts, media, and sciences. Students enjoy privileged access to our exceptional Hunterian collections and Library resources, particularly strong in 18th- and 19th-century works, travel literature, illuminated manuscripts, and specialized author collections.
The curriculum begins with poetry studies before progressing to narrative prose, cultivating essential skills in critical analysis, creative composition, and literary debate while demonstrating how performance enriches textual understanding. Both courses feature an international selection of texts spanning various historical periods. Students may also hone their creative abilities through poetry and fiction writing workshops.

Advanced entry
