The field of computing science spans diverse areas: from coding and developing complex software architectures to crafting and assessing user interfaces, computational methods, hardware and networking infrastructures, machine intelligence, data management solutions, and large-scale analytics platforms. In 2017, the School of Computing Science established the groundbreaking Centre for Computing Science Education, demonstrating our dedication to advancing teaching methodologies and setting educational standards.
Our computing science alumni receive accreditation from the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, fulfilling the educational criteria for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status. For four out of the past nine years in the National Student Survey, our School of Computing Science has achieved top marks for student contentment. Our curriculum is developed and delivered by field-leading academics. The School of Computing Science introduced its innovative Centre for Computing Science Education in 2017, reflecting our focus on educational excellence and forward-thinking approaches.

Bachelor's degree holders qualify for British Computer Society membership and, with appropriate professional experience, may pursue Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status along with partial Chartered Scientist (CSci)/Chartered Engineer (CEng) recognition. MSci graduates qualify for full CITP and partial CSci. Our bachelor's programs carry the Euro-Inf Bachelor Quality certification, while MSci degrees hold the Euro-Inf Master Quality Label.
