The fall of communist regimes created lasting challenges that persist across the region. Our program explores these critical developments from the Baltic states to the Balkan Peninsula and beyond. As home to a government-supported Center of Excellence for Russian, Central & East European Studies, the University organizes numerous cultural and academic events annually. While optional, students can study Hungarian, Czech, Polish, or Russian languages.
At the University of Glasgow's Q-Step Centre, we provide specialized programs to strengthen quantitative abilities - equipping students to interpret data and numerical evidence effectively. Mastering these analytical skills deepens your comprehension of core subjects within your discipline.
Our Q-Step Centre delivers five distinct degree programs within the School of Social and Political Sciences that incorporate comprehensive quantitative training. These courses foster meaningful engagement with social phenomena, teaching students to evaluate statistical findings, present research outcomes, and discuss their real-world significance. Such competencies prove invaluable for analyzing academic publications, media reports, and government statistics. Approximately 25% of coursework focuses on quantitative methodologies, with opportunities for professional internships at leading organizations.
Recent EU and NATO expansions eastward, coupled with evolving situations in Russia, Ukraine, and other post-Soviet territories, have increased demand for regional experts. Our alumni have established successful careers in international institutions like the European Commission, diplomatic services, NGOs, media, and corporate sectors.
