Students who completed Celtic Civilisation coursework in their initial years may opt to begin Scottish Gaelic studies or combine medieval Celtic history with ancient Celtic languages. The program offers specialized courses covering various facets of Celtic culture and literature, including early Irish and Scottish Gaelic belief systems, Scottish language policy, Gaelic oral traditions, ancient Gaelic texts, medieval Welsh writings, and Celtic artistic expressions. Honors students can access advanced courses on historical themes like medieval Ireland, the Northern Britons, and Pictish civilization. The curriculum culminates in a dissertation project, enabling students to investigate a self-selected topic while honing independent research skills.
