This Master's program, offered in collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (previously known as RSAMD), blends vocal or instrumental training with academic research focused on performance and includes apprenticeship opportunities with professional music groups. Whether you aim to pursue a professional performance career, conduct historical research on performance practices, or both, this program is tailored to your goals.
You'll enjoy access to our comprehensive facilities, featuring seminar spaces, practice rooms, the University library, two audio laboratories, an electroacoustic music studio, as well as the University Concert Hall and its adjoining studios. Additionally, you'll have privileges to use the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's resources. The program provides the exceptional chance to learn from internationally renowned performer-scholars while experiencing both academic and conservatoire settings. When feasible, RCS facilitates participation with professional historically-informed ensembles such as Dunedin Consort and Concerto Caledonia. As the UK's inaugural UNESCO City of Music, Glasgow hosts prestigious organizations including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, and National Theatre of Scotland.
