Located at the University's Penryn Campus near Falmouth, we are a distinctive interdisciplinary department providing specialized programs that leverage our research strengths in mining and minerals engineering, applied geology and mineralogy, surveying, and renewable energy. Postgraduate students benefit from an exceptional research setting featuring cutting-edge analytical equipment and laboratories, along with strong graduate employment outcomes. Our advanced facilities include a renewable energy lab and wind turbine. Research funding comes from the UK Energy Research Centre, UK Research Councils, UK Government Departments, the European Union, and private organizations. We play a pivotal role in the £15 million PRIMaRE research institute, advancing marine energy development in the South West. Our expertise covers offshore renewable energy, encompassing wave analysis, marine hydrodynamics, resource modeling, moorings, testing, reliability engineering, offshore installation, monitoring, operations, and maintenance.
