Doctoral candidates, whether enrolled full-time or part-time, who haven't completed a Psychology-focused Master's degree at Exeter, might need to complete supplementary training to bolster their academic journey. This could include taking specific MSc modules, though exemptions may apply if you can demonstrate equivalent coursework from previous accredited programs. This training equips students with essential research skills while offering valuable networking opportunities with fellow PhD beginners. Our center stands out as one of the few global institutions bridging human psychology (including cognition, learning, memory, and social/developmental processes) with animal models, enabling groundbreaking experimental and evolutionary studies. We investigate the origins, purposes, and evolutionary aspects of animal behavior and its adaptation to natural habitats.
Psychology PhD graduates enjoy diverse career prospects. Some embark on academic paths as postdoctoral researchers or lecturers, while others, especially those specializing in clinical research, opt for clinical psychology training. Alumni have also found success in corporate settings, either joining established firms or launching entrepreneurial ventures.
Career choices stem from individual interests, expertise, and skills developed during postgraduate studies, with each path fostering personal growth and enabling meaningful societal contributions.
