The Science, Culture and the Law research group (SCuLE) at Exeter Law is an interdisciplinary team making significant contributions to policy, governance, regulation, and cultural debates in fields like intellectual property, medical law, environmental law, and cultural heritage. Our research is internationally recognized, innovative, and socially impactful, employing diverse methodologies—from empirical studies to traditional legal analysis—to examine these areas' effects on societal well-being, individual and community outcomes, and the legal dimensions of innovation.

Qualification Requirements

Normally students will have a good undergraduate Honours degree (UK Upper Second Class Honours or equivalent) and a Masters degree with a dissertation component. If you are seeking funding through one of the Research Councils (UK/EU students only), you will need to hold a minimum Upper Second Class Honours degree, although often these awards are won by those with First Class Honours due to high levels of competition.
