Parenting in both united and separated family units can manifest in diverse ways and has undergone significant transformation in modern times. Caregivers may be of the same or different genders, living together or maintaining separate households. Evolving societal norms regarding conventional gender roles in caregiving and financial provision are reshaping parenting approaches. The Network's focus areas include:
child-rearing in non-conventional family structures
co-parenting after separation
collaborative parenting approaches in united, separated, and blended families
single parents amidst shrinking state support systems
the role of grandparents in child upbringing

Qualification Requirements

Normally students will have a good undergraduate Honours degree (UK Upper Second Class Honours or equivalent) and a Masters degree with a dissertation component. If you are seeking funding through one of the Research Councils (UK/EU students only), you will need to hold a minimum Upper Second Class Honours degree, although often these awards are won by those with First Class Honours due to high levels of competition.
