Exeter's Department of Theology and Religion excels in teaching and research across a wide spectrum of disciplinary interests. We foster an inclusive, encouraging environment with an energetic team of academics specializing in theology, religious studies, history, ethics, philosophy of religion, biblical scholarship, and anthropology. Our research encompasses diverse fields, with notable expertise in biblical studies, Christian and Jewish tradition interpretation, disability studies, religion's role in society, gender and sexuality studies, and sacred art and architecture. Students applying to enter directly into the MPhil/PhD programme would normally be expected to have a Masters degree with Merit or equivalent in Theology, or other relevant qualifications such as a doctorate in another subject.
