The Clinical Psychology research team produces cutting-edge studies that enhance both theoretical understanding and practical applications in clinical psychology.
Recognized as a global leader in mood disorder research, the group focuses on psychological factors involved in unipolar and bipolar depression, along with evidence-based treatment methods.
At its core lies the Mood Disorders Centre (MDC), a collaboration between the University of Exeter and the NHS that has pioneered innovative therapies targeting critical needs in mood disorder treatment and patient well-being.
From this initiative arose the SMART Lab, which spearheads groundbreaking research to transform scientific discoveries into better interventions for worry and rumination, while promoting transdiagnostic treatment and prevention training.
The group also includes the Psychopharmacology and Addiction Research Centre (PARC), uniting university-wide expertise and expanding Psychology's leadership in addiction and obesity studies.
Another key area is CRITICAL, a hub connecting researchers from all departmental specialties (clinical, social, cognitive, and animal behavior) to study inhibition training, impulse control, and associative learning.
