Explore how linguistic insights shed light on human language learning, comprehension, and usage. Our MA Psycholinguistics program offers comprehensive training in linguistic research focused on language processing, neural representation of language, and first/second language acquisition.
You'll examine how sounds, words, and sentences are processed and acquired, study various language disorders, and explore how language processing data informs our understanding of linguistic structures. The program also teaches experimental design, execution, and data analysis techniques.
Our research team employs experimental methods to investigate child language development, adult language processing, and language impairments caused by neurological conditions. We utilize diverse methodologies including corpus analysis, infant behavioral studies at our babylab, and adult response time/eye-tracking measurements.
Graduates of our MA Psycholinguistics can pursue doctoral research or careers in speech therapy, education, publishing, journalism, administration, or public service.
We collaborate with the University's Employability and Careers Center to connect students with work experience, internships, and volunteer opportunities.
Our Department of Language and Linguistics provides PhD and MPhil supervision across various specializations including language acquisition, teaching methodologies, intercultural communication, psycholinguistics, language disorders, sociolinguistics, and theoretical/descriptive linguistics.
