Our four-year LLB Law with Human Rights (including foundation year) program supports you in enhancing language abilities, building subject expertise, and strengthening academic capabilities. The foundation year (Year Zero) provides comprehensive preparation in these areas before advancing to three years of undergraduate studies at Essex. Upon successfully completing Year Zero through our Essex Pathways Department, you'll continue your degree with Essex Law School.
Explore human rights law through interdisciplinary perspectives including political theory, sociology, philosophy, economics, and history. Gain theoretical frameworks, substantive knowledge, and analytical skills to comprehend and address legal and political developments at national, regional, and international levels.
This LLB program cultivates your critical understanding of law's role within broader social, political, sociological, philosophical, economic, and historical contexts.
At Essex, we actively participate in justice discussions both in the UK and internationally. Our renowned Human Rights Center collaborates with the United Nations, governments, NGOs, and corporations worldwide, bringing global perspectives into the classroom.
As a student of law and human rights, you'll not only study legal principles but also examine law's societal function, philosophical foundations, policy considerations, and reform processes.
