Explore our MSci Tropical Marine Biology program and immerse yourself in the captivating realm of marine life, from majestic whales and vibrant coral reefs to mysterious deep-sea trenches and coastal ecosystems.
At Essex, we offer an engaging, hands-on approach to learning, featuring multiple field trip opportunities (additional fees may apply). Our students experience unique underwater lectures during expeditions to Indonesia's Wakatobi Marine National Park.
Tropical marine environments serve as vital resources both locally and globally, with coral reefs representing the most biodiverse - yet endangered - marine habitats. Our specialized program combines cutting-edge marine biology theory with practical training to equip students with in-demand professional skills.
The ocean harbors most of Earth's biodiversity, though much remains undiscovered. Our program guides you through diverse marine ecosystems, from polar regions to tropical reefs across the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans, covering conservation and resource management.

With growing global environmental challenges, skilled marine biologists are increasingly sought after, with many research and professional roles requiring advanced qualifications.
Our alumni pursue diverse career paths, including roles with environmental agencies, research organizations, and consultancy firms, while international students often secure similar positions in their home countries.
