This MZool program in Zoology with Marine Zoology is an extended undergraduate course that lets you earn either a BSc (Hons) after three years or a Master's degree upon completing the fourth year. The final year provides a distinctive chance to undertake an in-depth research project, whether in lab settings or out in the field.
You'll develop a comprehensive understanding of general zoology, studying animal diversity in form and function while examining their behavior, evolution, ecology, development, and anatomy. Specialized modules will also deepen your knowledge of marine invertebrate conservation, physiology, and behavior through engaging coursework.
Our program delivers rigorous zoological training and equips you with essential skills for careers in zoology and marine sciences. Combining lab work with hands-on fieldwork—particularly focused on marine life and habitats—this degree benefits from Bangor's coastal location along the Menai Strait. Field studies are a key component, and students consistently find them rewarding. Additionally, you'll acquire valuable transferable skills, including data analysis, teamwork, presentation techniques, and IT proficiency.
Our facilities include a dedicated Zoology Museum housing extensive vertebrate and invertebrate collections, along with a large marine aquarium. Situated near Snowdonia National Park's northern coast and pristine sandy beaches, our location offers an exceptional environment for studying Zoology with Marine Zoology.
Innovative research drives our programs, directly enriching the learning experience. Our marine zoology expertise spans endocrinology, developmental biology, growth studies, energetics, organismal adaptation, as well as phylogeography and genetics.
