Feed your inquisitive mind by engaging with pioneering researchers at the forefront of psychological science. At Essex, we embrace a multidisciplinary methodology, transcending conventional limits to merge diverse specialties and exchange captivating methods and thought-provoking concepts.
You'll explore both psychology and economics, mastering complementary approaches to examining decision-making and cognitive processes. Integrating psychological and economic perspectives yields crucial insights into why people don't always act in their self-interest. Grasping these concepts along with behavioral economics frameworks empowers policymakers to design systems that gently guide individuals toward smarter choices and improved wellbeing. In recent decades, economics has cultivated an extensive body of research on human behavior.
We offer one of the UK's most dynamic and engaging environments for studying the human psyche. Collaborate directly with our research teams through our Research Experience Scheme (RES), where you can partner with a psychologist as their research assistant. Our SHOUTS initiative enables you to apply your talents and imagination to enhance our department while showcasing our work beyond campus through digital platforms, interactive programs, and special occasions.
