Economics plays a central role in daily news coverage, touching everything from interest rates and grocery costs to employment trends and international commerce. Our Economics program keeps its focus on practical applications. You'll examine how individuals and corporations react to incentives, along with the creation and distribution of resources.
During your initial two years, you'll explore both macroeconomics - covering broader economic concepts like joblessness, taxes, investments, and price increases - and microeconomics - analyzing the decision-making processes of consumers and firms. You'll also develop skills in using statistical methods to analyze connections between economic indicators.
In your final year, elective courses allow you to specialize in fields such as employment economics, corporate economics, healthcare economics, technological progress, economic fluctuations, and various financial topics. The program provides access to a professional Bloomberg trading floor throughout your studies, offering real-world financial data used by industry experts. The Economics degree offers flexible duration options of three, four, or five years, with potential study abroad or work placement opportunities typically occurring in Year 3, shifting third-year coursework to Year 4 when applicable.
