Our BSc in Ecology and Environmental Biology delves into life's rich variety, studying biological systems from genetic levels to individual organisms, their populations, and the ecological communities they create, extending to complete ecosystems.
Drawing from cutting-edge research in our School of Life Sciences, you'll explore these principles in terrestrial, marine, and freshwater environments, analyzing life forms ranging from microscopic organisms to Earth's largest species.
You'll study biodiversity's vital role in maintaining ecosystem functions and preserving essential services that support human life. Through developing robust theoretical knowledge, hands-on experience, and data analysis skills, you'll learn how biodiversity and ecosystems adapt to multiple stressors in the Anthropocene era (including climate shifts, pollution, and habitat destruction). The program prepares you to devise conservation strategies for contemporary and future ecological challenges, with opportunities for specialized training in tropical marine biology in Indonesia and Arctic environmental studies through our new field course.
