Our BSc in Banking and Finance (including foundation year) welcomes both Home and EU students. This program is ideal if you don't currently meet the entry criteria for the standard three-year course but seek to strengthen both your subject expertise and academic abilities.
Spanning four years, this program begins with a foundational year (year zero) followed by three years of specialized study. Your initial year covers four academic disciplines aligned with your chosen field, alongside mandatory modules in English language and academic skills development.
From day one, you'll join Essex's vibrant global community, studying at the UK's most internationally diverse campus university.
Upon successfully completing year zero through our Essex Pathways Department, you'll advance to Essex Business School to finish your degree.

Our BSc in Banking and Finance merges theoretical depth with practical financial competencies, preparing you for challenging roles in the finance industry. You'll gain hands-on experience using real-world Bloomberg Market Data Feed (B-PIPE) and analytical tools in our virtual trading environment, where you can simulate trading and analyze market data.
The first year concentrates on core finance and banking principles while introducing key business functions like accounting, finance, management, and marketing. This broad foundation ensures you graduate with versatile skills applicable across various finance, banking, and business sectors.
In your final year, you'll have the opportunity to apply your learning through an extensive independent research project or dissertation. This capstone experience further hones essential professional skills including research methodology, project management, and analytical reasoning.
