This program offers the chance to explore various philosophical and legal subjects. Philosophy components introduce key philosophical concepts, while law modules examine fundamental areas of common law (including contract, tort, and criminal law) along with the relationship between individuals and government (public law).
Combining these disciplines delivers comprehensive academic training that enhances critical thinking, analytical abilities, and reasoning skills. You'll learn to apply philosophical methods to legal matters and recognize the legal aspects of ethical questions. Upon completion, you'll possess advanced capabilities in logical analysis and persuasive argumentation.
At Essex, we go beyond merely training future lawyers. We inspire students to seek justice while providing the tools to become catalysts for change, regardless of their chosen profession.
From day one, we encourage deep, broad, and strategic thinking about career options. During the initial two years, alongside legal studies, you'll complete career development modules to help assess personal strengths, understand employer expectations across various fields, and improve job prospects.
Our annual law fair connects students with legal firms and professional training providers. Alumni enter diverse fields including legal practice, business, finance, government, education, social services, and law enforcement.
