Our BEng in Robotic Engineering (including a foundation year) welcomes both Home and EU students. This program is ideal if your current qualifications don't meet the entry criteria for the standard three-year course, offering a pathway to strengthen both your subject expertise and academic English abilities.
Spanning four years, the course begins with a foundational Year Zero, followed by three years of specialized study. The initial year covers four discipline-specific subjects alongside a mandatory module focused on English language and academic development.
From day one, you'll join Essex's vibrant global community, studying at the UK's most internationally diverse campus university.
Upon successfully completing Year Zero through our Essex Pathways Department, you'll advance to the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering to finish your degree.
Robotics plays an increasingly vital role across multiple sectors, including autonomous vehicles, home automation, healthcare, industrial production, emergency response, and hazardous environment operations.
Our BEng program prepares you with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills to thrive in this dynamic field or pursue academic research. The curriculum uniquely blends electrical engineering with computer science, providing comprehensive training in navigation, motion control, sensory systems, autonomous decision-making, and machine learning - enabling you to design advanced robotic solutions.
The course emphasizes high-level programming competencies alongside fundamental robotics and artificial intelligence principles.
