From your very first day, you'll join Essex's vibrant global community at the UK's most internationally diverse campus university.
Through our BA Modern History, you'll explore British, European, and global history from the 18th century to contemporary times. This dynamic era witnessed unprecedented discovery and globalization—characterized by rapid transformations, devastating conflicts, and enduring faith in social and scientific advancement.

Beyond gaining historical perspective to better comprehend today's world, our history program equips you with transferable skills for life after graduation. You'll develop the ability to process, evaluate, and synthesize diverse information sources, articulate well-reasoned arguments both verbally and in writing, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
