This bachelor's degree program offers an interdisciplinary approach combining literature and legal studies. Students will cultivate critical thinking, reflection, creativity, and analytical abilities that bridge both fields. The BA in Literature with Law delivers comprehensive education in these complementary subjects while fostering essential skills for both disciplines. Participants will gain a nuanced understanding of law's role in society and its connections to literary works. In legal practice, case facts and truths often emerge through documents, texts, and storytelling methods.
The program examines these narrative structures by studying literary forms and storytelling techniques. When analyzing literature, legal perspectives can provide valuable insights for interpreting works about property inheritance, criminal acts, justice systems, and punitive measures. We'll investigate how applicable laws and legal frameworks can inform fresh interpretations of literary pieces.
Curriculum highlights encompass fundamental themes from both Law and Literature, including fictional portrayals of criminal acts, justice systems, ethical dilemmas, incarceration experiences, and writings about conflict and displacement.
Essential coursework features collaborative Law and Literature modules and an extensive Independent Research project where students choose their own legal-literary topic with faculty guidance.
