Every writer begins as a reader, and every reader contributes to writing, since a book only truly comes to life through engaged readership. Our BA Literature and Creative Writing program provides a distinctive approach to reading and writing, blending conventional British and American viewpoints with other significant literary movements, ranging from mythological studies to the experimental techniques of France's Oulipo group.
You'll expand your understanding of literary traditions across multiple genres while honing your analytical, expressive, and creative abilities. Follow your passion for literature by examining key works of fiction, poetry, and drama from the Americas, Europe, and beyond, all while refining your writing through structured readings and creative assignments. We'll guide you in becoming your own best editor—learning to evaluate both your work and others' is essential for elevating your writing from competent to exceptional.

Our alumni excel in diverse fields including media, education, publishing, advertising, film, and theater. Notably, many have found success in publishing and theatrical production—one graduate now leads editorial operations at a major publishing firm, while another recently assumed directorship of a prominent national theater.
