Our unique combined History and Drama program offers an in-depth exploration of both disciplines, blending theatrical creativity with historical investigation.
As a history student, you'll examine both early modern and contemporary eras, tackling complex questions about how political, social, and cultural transformations affected individuals, communities, and geographical areas. At Essex, we empower you to develop your analytical perspective, examining history from the viewpoint of everyday people whose stories were frequently overlooked in their time.
Our theatre and drama curriculum invites you to analyze groundbreaking dramatic works while preparing to influence future theatrical productions. This program provides opportunities to unleash and cultivate your creative potential. You'll have access to our cutting-edge Lakeside Theatre for performances and productions, while acquiring diverse creative, analytical, and technical abilities that can lead to careers in theatre, cultural sectors, or various other professional paths.

Qualification Requirements

A-levels: BBB - BBC or 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 full A-levels BTEC: DDM – DMM or 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of the equivalent of 2 full A-levels. Other qualifications that hold UCAS tariff points, and combined qualifications: 120 – 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 full A levels or equivalent. IB: 30 - 29 points or three Higher Level certificates with 555-554. We are also happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programme courses (formerly certificates) at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for. IELTS- 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component TOEFL IBT- 76 overall, with a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing
