The Clinical Psychology PhD and MSc by Research programs provide opportunities to collaborate with and receive guidance from diverse clinical academics spanning multiple psychology disciplines.

Please note these programs do not qualify graduates for Chartered Clinical Psychologist certification.

Our research features both national and international cooperation, with numerous initiatives conducted in partnership with NHS organizations.

eating behaviors and related disorders
psychosis and complex psychological conditions
child and adolescent risk factors and resilience
psychological interventions
aggressive behaviors
sexual offenses
We maintain a vibrant research community focused on applied developmental psychology and therapeutic interventions for serious mental health conditions. Many faculty members and students in our clinical psychology department participate in the Centre for Applied Developmental Psychology, conducting studies designed to enhance youth wellbeing and support mental health recovery.

Qualification Requirements

A UK 2:1 honours degree and a UK masters degree, or their international equivalents, in a relevant subject area. We may also consider your application if you do not have a masters degree, but have other relevant research experience.

IELTS Academic: total 7.0 with at least 6.5 in each component.
TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 100 with at least 23 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.
