The Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences (CDBS) conducts research across molecular, cellular, systems, and behavioral scales to uncover core mechanisms and pathways involved in brain and body function during both healthy and diseased states.
CDBS researchers leverage cutting-edge technologies in genomics, proteomics, imaging, informatics, and in-vivo studies to examine gene product functions across cellular, organ, and whole-organism scales, while also exploring cognition and behavior through systems, circuits, cells, and molecules.
They utilize optimal model organisms/systems, balancing strong biomedical relevance (including human, mouse, and rat models) with powerful genetic approaches (such as C. elegans, drosophila, and zebrafish).
Their investigations span the central and peripheral nervous systems, employing diverse analytical approaches ranging from molecular and cellular studies to cognitive neuroscience, brain imaging, and behavioral neuroscience.
