This program explores diverse literary and theoretical frameworks, showcasing how writing and creativity influence and participate in cultural and political dynamics.

You'll investigate how post-1900 literature has evolved and modernized, reflecting broader societal transformations characteristic of contemporary times.

Your academic journey will cover an expansive and captivating domain, from pioneering figures of literary modernism like TS Eliot, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, and Virginia Woolf to contemporary writers still building upon their groundbreaking work.

As you study in the inaugural UNESCO City of Literature, you'll examine the most thought-provoking English literature since 1900, while investigating the historical, intellectual, cultural, political, and philosophical influences that shaped these works—especially during their most experimental modernist and postmodernist periods.
