This program offers you the chance to explore ancient history at an advanced level, deepening your fascination with the classical world while laying a strong foundation for future graduate studies.

Edinburgh stands among the UK's top destinations for ancient history research, thanks to the broad chronological, geographical, and methodological expertise of our faculty.

Our course offerings mirror the research specialties of our staff, covering Greek, Hellenistic, Roman, and Late Antique subjects. Language courses in Greek and Latin are consistently available. We excel particularly in the legal, social, economic, and institutional history of ancient Greece and Rome, along with political theory, Hellenistic studies, and late antique scholarship.

As a participant in this program, you'll enhance your abilities in analytical reasoning, precise writing, research methodologies, oral communication, and critical evaluation.
