Our joint program offers rigorous training in both written and spoken language skills while exposing you to a rich variety of global literature, cinema, and theater.
As the world's second and sixth most spoken languages respectively, this program hones your linguistic abilities while deepening your cultural understanding of Spanish and Portuguese-speaking regions (including Spain, Portugal, Brazil, most Latin American nations, Angola, Mozambique, and other West African countries).Year 1- Depending on your proficiency, you'll take either Spanish 1A or 1B alongside literary and cinematic studies. Portuguese 1 accommodates all levels while introducing Lusophone literature through short stories from Mozambique, Angola, Brazil, and Portugal. Year 2- You'll enhance your language skills while further exploring Spanish and Latin American culture. Optional Catalan studies introduce Catalonia's language and heritage. Portuguese Language 2 advances your skills while examining Lusophone societies through literature, film, and arts. Year 3- Includes study or work placements in Spanish or Portuguese-speaking regions. Year 4- Features advanced language courses and specialized options focusing on history, literature, film, and culture of Hispanic and Lusophone regions, culminating in a dissertation or extended essay.
