This program offers the dual benefit of refining your abilities in the world's sixth most common language while gaining insight into significant literary works from our homeland. The curriculum examines diverse texts, including both fiction and nonfiction, originating from Scotland, Portugal, Brazil, and Portuguese-speaking African nations. Students will conduct thorough, analytical studies of Scottish works in English or Scots alongside Portuguese literature, spanning from medieval times to the modern era, focusing on their creation, audience reception, and interpretation.

The standard entry requirement is:
SQA Highers: AAAAA-AAAA (achievement by end of S5 preferred). BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.
A Levels: AAA - ABB.
IB: 37 points with 666 at HL - 34 points with 655 at HL.
Minimum entry requirement
The minimum entry requirement for widening access applicants is:
SQA Highers: ABBB by end of S6. BBB must be achieved in one year of S4-S6.

IB: 34 points with 655 at HL.
IELTS Academic module overall 6.5 with 5.5 in each component.
