This combined degree program is designed to enhance your analytical, critical thinking, linguistic, and creative abilities through exposure to diverse texts in English and German, along with multiple interpretive approaches.
No previous German language experience is required. Focused instruction in speaking and writing will help you rapidly build your language proficiency.
Throughout the four-year curriculum, which includes an international year, you'll develop professional competencies in all German language areas:
comprehension (reading and listening)
production (writing and translation)
oral communication (speaking and presentations)
Beyond language acquisition, you'll examine German literature, cinema, and theater within their historical and political contexts, spanning from the 1700s to modern day.
You'll acquire fundamental techniques for critically analyzing poetry, plays, and prose while investigating the cultural backgrounds of English literature from medieval times to today.
During advanced studies, you can choose courses aligned with your personal interests in particular themes, eras, or literary styles.
Pairing literary studies with language learning demonstrates intellectual flexibility and cultural awareness - valuable qualities for professional success in our interconnected world.
