The curriculum examines language acquisition, linguistic structures, societal communication patterns, and literary evolution spanning from Beowulf to contemporary works. You'll explore global literary traditions, Renaissance masterpieces, Gothic and genre fiction, Victorian literature, modernist movements, cultural gender studies, and various writing disciplines. Our flexible program structure allows you to tailor studies to your specific interests, whether in world literature, Renaissance studies, Gothic fiction, 19th-century works, modern narratives, cultural gender analysis, creative writing, linguistic research, sociolinguistics, dialectology, or TEFL. Wales boasts a vibrant poetic heritage, with Swansea being Dylan Thomas's hometown. Students can collaborate with the Dylan Thomas Centre and National Theatre Wales on special projects.

Qualification Requirements

Our standard entry requirement is ABB-BBC (UCAS tariff points 112-128) or equivalent. All offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement. We also accept a range of advanced level qualifications including: International Baccalaureate 32, Welsh Baccalaureate - grade equivalent to A-level, BTEC, Access to Higher Education and Open University qualifications, and Extended Project.

For applicants whose first language is not English, we require IELTS 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent English test. TOEFL (IBT) - 79
