This MRC Doctoral Training Programme (DTP) in Precision Medicine represents a joint initiative between the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Precision medicine revolutionizes healthcare by tailoring disease treatment and prevention to individual patients, considering their unique genetic makeup, environment, and lifestyle. In essence, it delivers the most appropriate treatment to each patient precisely when needed. This approach combines extensive clinical data with personalized genomics, electronic records, imaging, and various data-intensive -omic measurements to facilitate breakthroughs and customized treatments.

There's a critical demand to educate scientists skilled in cutting-edge genetic and genomic analysis, capable of creating and applying advanced analytical techniques to enhance health outcomes. Our goal is to cultivate future research pioneers proficient in informatics and biomedical technologies, equipped to decode disease processes and develop innovative treatments. We strive to prepare these researchers to fully harness the power of Precision Medicine.
