Our goal is to gain deeper insights into cardiovascular and metabolic disorders impacting individuals within our clinical specialties (such as diabetes, kidney disease, and endocrine disorders), and their broader societal effects - particularly among different ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic groups.
Through our studies, we investigate how obesity and lack of physical activity contribute to cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, aiming to create more effective prevention and treatment approaches while reducing related health complications. This knowledge helps us innovate cardiovascular treatments and optimize current therapies. Our team's skills range from molecular and biomarker analysis to clinical studies, large-scale epidemiology, trials, and cardiovascular outcome evaluation.
We're at the forefront of creating specialized biological databases connected to anonymized NHS Scotland health records. Within our kidney research program, we're working to lower risks and enhance care for chronic kidney disease patients.
