This program results in Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) certification for teaching students aged 11 to 16, enabling you to work as a secondary school educator in England and Wales. When feasible, we also provide opportunities to gain experience with the 11-to-18 age group.
Ensuring all students have the opportunity to master at least one language proficiently is critically important.
This ongoing need for skilled language educators to help students cultivate essential, enduring abilities explains why language teaching trainees can access some of the most generous training bursaries available.
In East London schools, French, German, and Spanish dominate language instruction, with additional options including Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Urdu, and Bengali. At UEL, your teacher training will equip you with techniques to engage young learners by demonstrating language applications in commerce, daily life, and cultural contexts. Our secondary training comprises three core components: subject specialization, general teaching methodologies, and practical school placements. Unlike many university programs, ours maintains a strong subject-focused approach. We foster a cooperative learning environment rather than a competitive one, preparing you for the collaborative nature of school workplaces after qualification.
