This program integrates two crucial computing disciplines—data science and artificial intelligence—in a complementary fashion. Data science and AI represent interconnected facets of Intelligent Systems, where data science emphasizes statistical methods while AI focuses on algorithmic approaches. Both fields are highly sought-after in the technology sector and Industry 4.0 applications. Careers in data science and AI rank among the most lucrative in IT, with growing demand for these skills. A recent EU forecast indicates a requirement for 346,000 data scientists and machine learning specialists by 2020. The UK, however, risks a severe shortage of qualified professionals, which could significantly impact businesses.
Beyond core coursework, you'll explore management, economic, legal, social, professional, and ethical considerations surrounding information systems.
The program also cultivates communication abilities, fosters initiative, strengthens professional conduct, and hones both independent and collaborative working skills.
Our graduates include diverse professionals such as council data analysts, a Bermuda-based chief software architect, an EDF Energy business manager, and a Microsoft systems design analyst.
Alumni achievements span from an NYSE information security architect to founders of DinoByte Labs, an acclaimed game design studio.
