The School of Biological Sciences integrates cutting-edge research into every program we provide. Our microbiology studies span from molecular and cellular mechanisms to ecosystem dynamics and evolutionary biology. The curriculum thoroughly covers microbiology principles while incorporating essential elements of related fields like Biochemistry and Genetics. Students build this foundation through required and elective courses, enabling specialization in microbiology subfields, culminating in a dedicated microbiology research project during their final year.
Our strategic partnership with the Norwich Research Park offers unique advantages, as we collaborate with the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and globally acclaimed institutions: the John Innes Centre, the Sainsbury Laboratory, the Earlham Institute, and the state-of-the-art £75 million Quadram Institute. These partners conduct pioneering microbiology research and host world-leading experts in the field.
