This Modern Languages program allows you to master your selected languages at an advanced academic level. The curriculum includes developing reading and listening skills, translating between English and your target languages, practicing summarization and rephrasing techniques, analyzing various linguistic styles and registers, expanding vocabulary, and improving speaking abilities. All coursework utilizes current materials rather than historical or literary texts. You may optionally study a third language through a non-credit certification program, with choices potentially including Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, or Advanced English, subject to availability.

Your third year includes an immersive experience in countries where your studied languages are spoken. We maintain partnerships with numerous universities across France, Spain, Japan, Canada, and Latin America. During this year abroad, you can either enroll at a partner university (all languages) or pursue a teaching position or professional internship (available for French and Spanish students). This experience not only strengthens language proficiency but also cultivates cross-cultural understanding, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. The year abroad serves as excellent preparation for global careers, showcasing to future employers your ability to succeed in international environments through demonstrated independence, cultural sensitivity, and personal growth.
