In today's interconnected world, mastering a modern language has become a vital skill that significantly boosts your professional opportunities. This expertise holds special importance for fields like international relations. Through this International Relations and Modern Languages program, you'll develop advanced proficiency in French, Spanish, or Japanese, including an immersive year overseas, while examining contemporary global political challenges. Combining political studies with language learning offers more than just career advantages: you'll acquire unique cultural understanding of another nation or region, enabling you to analyze political matters through different lenses.

Your third year will be spent in a country where your chosen language is spoken. This international experience will strengthen your academic progress and career potential through study or employment abroad. You'll cultivate cross-cultural competence, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities alongside linguistic development. This experience also showcases to prospective employers your capacity for growth, self-assurance, and success in global environments. During this year, you'll enrich your language and cultural immersion by either attending a foreign university, working as a teaching assistant, or completing a relevant internship. Japanese language students will study at one of our affiliated universities in Japan.
