This program takes a groundbreaking cross-disciplinary approach to examining international development, addressing critical 21st-century challenges through multiple lenses. By integrating knowledge from anthropology, economics, environmental studies, geography, media, and political science, you'll investigate today's most urgent worldwide concerns - including poverty, inequality, health crises, climate emergencies, education gaps, and armed conflicts. You'll also gain valuable research methodology training. Together with the program's inherently interdisciplinary framework, this will shape you into a versatile social researcher with diverse, employer-sought skills.
The outcome is a highly adaptable degree program that you can customize to align with your specific interests, enabling you to blend broad interdisciplinary grounding with specialized concentration.
Throughout your foundation year, we'll guide you in making informed choices that support your evolving academic passions and professional aspirations. Upon completing the Foundation Year, you may progress with the BA Global Development degree or select alternative pathways within the School of Global Development, such as: BA Global Development with Anthropology, BA Global Development with Economics, BA Global Development with Politics, BA Media and Global Development, BA Geography and Global Development, BA Global Development Management, or BSc Global Development and the Environment. All School of Global Development degrees provide supplementary opportunities for study abroad years, placement years, or placement modules.
