This cutting-edge program merges a robust interdisciplinary base with specialized geographical perspectives on global development studies. You'll explore core modules in human and social geography that examine pressing modern challenges through a spatial lens - encompassing poverty disparities, racial dynamics, healthcare access, population movements, and city growth - with particular emphasis on human-environment interactions and progressive social equity. The curriculum includes essential technical training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), both qualitative and quantitative research approaches, complemented by immersive fieldwork. Field-based learning forms a cornerstone of this program, featuring local excursions integrated into core courses where we collaborate with grassroots organizations. Students can participate in multiple residential field experiences, both domestically and internationally, during their studies.
