Calum Colvin, Associate Dean of Research, explores the diverse research landscape at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design
At Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), we aim to cultivate creative innovation, utilize artistic approaches to enrich other fields, and build a clear knowledge foundation to advance our disciplines moving forward.
During the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE2008), DJCAD achieved the highest ranking nationwide for its art & design research environment. Our research reputation is further demonstrated by the establishment of V&A Dundee - a collaborative initiative between the Victoria & Albert Museum and Scottish Enterprise, supported by the Scottish Government - focusing on pioneering research in design and craft methodologies.
Over the past ten years, alongside strengthening our research capabilities and academic team, we've nurtured a dynamic community of postgraduate researchers. We encourage outstanding applicants who wish to become part of this energetic research environment and whose academic pursuits complement our key research areas:
Digital Economy, Futures & Cultural Studies
Visualization & Practical Applications of Visual Cognition
Artistic, Media, and Visual Research
