Our cutting-edge facility sits in Belfast's bustling Cathedral Quarter, where the University serves as a creative hub for the city's cultural scene. The PhD program thrives in this dynamic environment, with dedicated research spaces integrated into the School's academic heart and surrounded by undergraduate and postgraduate art communities.

PhD candidates contribute to Intersections, our peer-reviewed journal available in print and digital formats, fostering cross-disciplinary partnerships throughout the nine Research Units of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. We maintain robust connections with cultural organizations, including partnerships with the Ulster Museum, national galleries, the NI Pain Forum, and leadership roles in AHRC-funded initiatives like Future Screen NI and Studio Ulster. These specialized centers merge industry and academic expertise in animation, film, gaming, and immersive technologies.
